Iver Johnson American Bulldog .32 RF Double Action with 4 1/2” barrel.
An excellent example of the American Bulldog, produced by Iver Johnson in a not often found 4 1/2” barrel variation (most barrel’s were 3”). With around 90 – 95% nickle remaining, this model shows very little wear for a firearm over 100 years old.
Perfectly working model in both single and double action, with solid lock-up and indexing. Only fault is a small chip to the left hand grip. The cylinder pin spring is in perfect working order and the hammer and trigger retain most of their original case hardening, I hope the pictures tell the story.
Gutta percha grips showing the American Eagle clutching arrows, serial number 8679 twice stamped on the frame under the left hand grip.
Iver Johnson’s revolvers are distinguishable by their sharp hump-back grip frame.
Iver Johnson started out in 1871 as Johnson Bye & Co., in 1883 the name of the company was changed to Iver Johnson & Co. and in 1891 the name was changed again to Iver Johnson's Arms & Cycle Works. The "American Bulldog" was a trade name used by Iver Johnson.
