SMITH & WESSON MODEL NO.2 ARMY
Single action
6.0 inch octagonal barrel
6 shot round cylinder
.32 rimfire caliber (Obsolete, no licence needed).
Made in 1865
Superb original Smith&Wesson No.2 Army. This is an excellent original gun, the metal is excellent with strong original blue left on each side of the frame, on top and under the frame.
The action is superb on this gun, the barrel locks really tight to the frame (Most of these are loose) and the action works like new, super strong hammer spring, perfect timeing and rock solid lockup, the cylinder ticks like a Swiss watch. few of these are like this, plus there is more, the cylinders are superb and the bore is superb, shiney with crisp rifling.
The barrel address is excellent as is the patent address on the cylinder. The serial number is 39392 making this one just post American civil war.
The original rosewood grips are superb with about 50% of the original varnish left.
The hammer on this has not had the tip chipped off and there is still some case hardening left on the hammer.
This is an outstanding S&W NO.2 Army. I have had this gun for a few years now and everyone who has seen it has loved it, it is the best i have ever seen, i have seen a few with more blue left but they had loose actions, pitted bores and wobbley barrels and where much more expensive.
This one is as good as new action & mechanical condition, ready for the Indian wars now! A real collection piece. Don't miss it because i have never seen one as good, i'm only selling it as i have too many guns:(
These Smith&Wesson No.2 Army revolvers where the biggest caliber 'legal' cartridge revolver you could buy during the civil war and right upto around 1873 when the Smith&Wesson patent for breech loading revolvers ran out!
Many thanks for looking, any questions are welcome.
