This is a very nice cased Allen and Thurber double action bar hammer muff pistol in .31 percussion.
2" screw off barrel,which is free and does screw off. Front half round,rear half octagonal.Number 7 to bottom flat.
Bar hammer with makers name enscribed"Allens patent" on the left side.
Good nipple.
Scroll engraving to both sideplates. Good walnut grips.
In good condition with most of the original finish remaining and a good working action. 5 1/4" overall.
Case is 9" by 4 1/2", lined in green baize and containing copper powder flask with eagle motif, UMC cap tin,ball mould and a few cast lead balls.
All in good condition with lock and key.
A very pretty little set and fairly rare.
Please note that the lead balls contained in this set are totally inert.
