This is a Colt Pocket Pistol with a 4” barrel.

It is in very good condition for such an early example serial numbered for 1851.

It has a very nice brown to dark grey patina overall with no pitting, though there are a few dings and the usual handling marks.

The markings are all very sharp and crisp, including the two line barrel address and the stage coach hold up scene on the cylinder which has very little wear.

The action is very positive and indexes and locks up well.

The bore is very good with very strong rifling with the usual slight black powder pitting.

The only down side is that while the serial numbers match, including arbour and rammer, the back strap and trigger guard are both later numbered. There is no number on the wedge but this is quite common.

The grips however, are an excellent fit and have virtually all their varnish.

Also, it looks like the loading lever has been repaired around the latch but it has been done very well and I had had this gun for some time before I noticed this.

Overall, a very clean, early Colt.
