Superb Winchester 1894, desirable octagonal barrel and full magazine in the obsolete 32-40 caliber. This one is serial number 139676 which means it was made in 1898 so an early one.
All markings on this rifle are all excellent. The original finish has mostly turned to a brown but is still in original finish.
The wood is excellent on this gun, no chips and a really nice and tight fit.
The action is tight and crisp, all works perfect. Good bore too with good rifleing, just a little dark so needs a good scrub and just a few light pitts.
This rifle looks to be all original, excellent original metal with no pitting on the exterior, original sights too. This gun has an unusual barrel length, i might not be measuring it from the right point but not sure if this is the original barrel length but it look like it, possibly shortend a little many years ago.
It has a lovley grain of wood, much better than most other 1894 rifles and has had an excellent varnish done to the wood, it was not rubbed down before the varnish and it makes the wood look superb. There was a small metal plate added under the stock, possibley so a sling could be put on the rifle, it is hardly noticable!
Overall a super nice Winchester, tight and ready to go.
Many thanks for looking, any questions are welcome.
